Medication

All medication for all students must be delivered by a parent to the school nurse in the original container with the student’s name clearly labeled.  This is particularly important for any controlled substance. Written/ email instructions for administration from a parent must accompany the medication.  All medication, including over-the-counter medicine in the original container, is kept in the nurse’s station. Rhetoric students may keep treatment for anaphylaxis (EpiPen), asthma (inhaler) or diabetes (insulin) with them, but written/email permission from a parent must be sent to the nurse before doing so. A Medication Dispersion Log is kept to document medicines given to students.
