Geneva strives to create an atmosphere of modesty and good stewardship regarding teacher gifts. Parents are given several GCL organized giving opportunities during the school year to show their appreciation to the teachers at Geneva. At Christmas, parents are invited to donate cash to a voluntary school-wide teacher gift fund that allows each teacher to take home a Christmas bonus before the holidays. In the spring, parents are also encouraged to contribute items for teacher appreciation gifts given to all staff members. Grammar School teacher birthdays and end-of-year gifts are celebrated by classes as a whole and are organized through Grammar School Room Moms. Beyond these opportunities, any personal or voluntary gift of appreciation to a teacher or staff member from an individual during the year should be limited to a simple act of kindness in the form of a meal or modest store-bought treat (i.e., coffee, tea, etc.).
